Scope of Practice & Client Safety

W

Scope of Practice

I work within my professional training, competence, and ethical guidelines as a Clinical Hypnotherapist. I support clients experiencing fertility-related emotional strain, chronic pain, anxiety, stress, phobias, smoking cessation, and other emotional or behavioural patterns that may affect well-being.

Where appropriate, I may recommend that a client seek support from another suitably qualified healthcare professional if their needs fall outside my scope of practice.

W

Suitability

Clinical Hypnotherapy may not be appropriate for individuals experiencing certain severe mental health conditions, including:

  • active psychosis or schizophrenia spectrum conditions
    • unmanaged or acute bipolar disorder
    • severe dissociative conditions where altered states of awareness may not be clinically appropriate

If you have any of these conditions, or are under the care of a psychiatrist or mental health team, I encourage you to seek advice from your treating clinician before considering hypnotherapy.

W

Medical Care

My services are a complementary approach and do not replace medical diagnosis, treatment, or psychological care provided by your GP, psychiatrist, specialist clinician, or other healthcare professional.

Clients should continue to follow the advice and treatment plans provided by their healthcare providers.

W

Client Responsibility

Clients are responsible for providing accurate and relevant information about their health, medical history, and current treatment, where this may affect the suitability of hypnotherapy.

W

Safety and Referral

If I believe that hypnotherapy is not appropriate for your circumstances, I reserve the right to decline or discontinue services and may recommend seeking support from a more appropriate healthcare professional.

W

Crisis Support

My services are not suitable for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis or requiring urgent psychiatric care.

If you are experiencing thoughts of self-harm, suicidal thoughts, or are in immediate danger, please contact emergency services or an appropriate crisis support service in your area.
